Wine makes more sense when you see the whole picture.

Mark Pygott is a Master of Wine, consultant, educator, judge, author and founder of PASSAGE. His career has taken him across the many worlds of wine, from production, trade and hospitality through to education, travel and business.

Mark did not arrive in wine by the conventional route. He began as a children and families social worker in Leeds, an experience that shaped the way he reads people, explains complexity and puts others at ease.

His wine career has taken him through cellar work, wine and brand development, retail, importing and distribution, hospitality supply, education, consulting and luxury travel. He has lived and worked across the UK, France and Taiwan, becoming Taiwan’s first resident Master of Wine in 2016.

Today, that range is the point. Mark does not see wine in isolation. He sees the connections around it - between people, places, businesses and ideas - and knows how to bring them together.
